if OP is running close to 100% on both, then limiting CPU power WILL result in a drop in framerate. Kneecapping it by not letting it boost is seriously gonna hurt your frames, guaranteed That's why you don't pair a 2080 Ti with a R3 3300X.ĮDIT:I'm not entirely sure about the relationship between the R5 3550H and whatever dGPU is in OP's SKU, but the same principle applies: unless you're running ridiculously low CPU usage ( say <40% ) when gaming, not letting the CPU boost is gonna have some impact on framerate. Also note: The FX505DU was upgraded to run 16GB in dual-channel vs my still stock A15 running 8GB at single-channel memory. On the FX505DU, I was getting around 80% GPU utilization and 100% CPU utilization whereas on the A15 now I'm getting 100% GPU and 40-60% CPU. I just recently upgraded to a TUF A15 from a TUF FX505DU, so that's R7 3750H to R7 4800H with the same 1660Ti dGPU.
